Thank you for supporting ET4PR. Let’s provide Puerto Rico with the help they need and deserve.

On September 20, 2017, Hurricane Maria ravaged Puerto Rico and other Caribbean islands. East Tennesseans united and formed East for Puerto Rico (ET4PR), a 501 (c)(3), non-profit organization specifically created to help with relief efforts in Puerto Rico. Through our fundraising efforts, we have raised over $30,000 and have been able to donate $20,000 to these different organizations:

Fundación Buena Vibrahttps://www.facebook.com/fundacionbuenavibra/, a local non-profit organization working on rehabilitating homes destroyed by the hurricane. We bought tarps and other building supplies to assist with the rehabilitations of homes in the Toa Baja area.  Not only were we able to help people in the community, but also we are helping stimulate the local economy by purchasing materials at the local hardware store.

Comisión de Justicia y Paz, Iglesia Santa Rita de Casia in Bayamon, a local non-profit organization supporting families in Santa Juanita and surrounding areas.  Funds provided to the Comisión de Justicia y Paz were used to purchase repellents to prevent the spread of leptospirosis, dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases; mattresses; personal hygiene supplies; building supplies; household cleaning supplies; towels and linens; and solar bulbs.

Doctoras Boricuas is working with Puerto Rico Rise Up, Inc., https://www.puertoricoriseup.org/, a non-profit organization with a network of doctors across the island serving people affected by the Hurricane. We sent 69 pounds of medical items.  Puerto Rico Rise Up, Inc. will distribute the provided medical items across its network of doctors.

Corporación el Otoao,  a community group based in Utuado, one of this hardest hit areas in Puerto Rico.  Normally this group focuses on promoting health and family related activities such as sports, community walks, and educational activities for the children. However, after the Hurricane, the group shifted their focus to clearing roads, rescuing victims, providing urgent supplies such as food and water, and rebuilding their communities. Funds provided will help this group purchase construction materials to repave roads and  build homes for sick and elderly individuals, and purchase generators to supply the most in need with a way to connect medical equipment. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100008308953071

Centro Esperanza in Loiza, an organization that operates a Montessori school/community support center in Loiza. Loiza was devastated by the 2017 Hurricanes Irma and Maria. The Centro provides very low cost Montessori classes to area children, mental health support, addiction prevention programs for the youth, music and cultural programs, and a distribution center for clothes, water, food, diapers, OTC medicines and a wide variety of services. The Centro suffered significant water damage to the kitchen and pantry, and the roof was mostly destroyed. Funds provided will be used to complete the repairs to the Center facilities and for use as needed in support of the community.

HASER is a group of people with a shared interest in supporting local grassroots actions in Puerto Rico that stimulate equity and quality of life for all living beings. We offer fiscal sponsorship to groups (Allies) that are developing social, cultural, environmental, artistic and educational actions in their communities. Allies receive technical assistance in administration, strategic plans, proposal development and communication
