On September 20, 2017, Hurricane Maria made a direct hit on the island of Puerto Rico.  Larger than the island itself, Maria destroyed everything in its path.  Over a month has passed, yet most of the island still has no power, potable water nor communication.  Food is scarce and hospitals are unable to provide assistance to even the most critically ill patients.
In response to this unprecedented humanitarian crisis, a group of local residents have created East Tennessee for Puerto Rico (ET4PR), a charitable organization whose mission is to support Hurricane relief in the island.  An application for nonprofit status is currently in process.  All the group members are volunteers and 100% of everything collected (money and supplies) go toward relief efforts.
East Tennessee for Puerto Rico has partnered with HOLA Hora Latina, a nonprofit organization promoting “unity in the community” to organize a benefit concert entitled: To Puerto Rico with Love: A Puerto Rican Christmas in Rocky Top.  The event will be held at The Knoxville Museum of Art on Friday, December 1st, 2017, from 7pm-10pm.  Featuring performances by several recognized musical groups and musicians of international acclaim, the event will also include a delicious typical Puerto Rican Christmas buffet and a silent auction (see attached invite).
It’s truly going to be a magical night and I hope you can join us.  To purchase tickets (or to make a donation, if you cannot attend), please visit the Hola website (www.holahoralatina.org).
